I’ve lived in Canmore for 31 years, actively volunteering and participating on Community boards and working groups for 29 of those.
Contributing on committees and boards provides me important community insight and connection.
I love Canmore! It is such a majestic and diverse community. It has been an honour serving and with two terms of experience, I have a much better understanding and can contribute in a highly effective manner. Working within a Municipality and being part of important decisions impacting our Community is fascinating work. I’d very much like to continue making a positive difference for our unique mountain Town.
I represent all aspects of the Community. I’ve lived in Canmore for more than 30 years, have be immersed in Canmore, Banff and the entire Bow Valley. I’m a difference maker and take a stance as needed and warranted.
Affordable CCH Vital housing that has been built and in the works. Two new market rental apartments that are being completed, The Vu & the Villas. These add critical market rental properties to Canmore creating inventory while improving community inventory and availability.
The challenges to our Community of those unable or unwilling to stay. I will continue to advocate and advance affordable housing initiatives and inventory.
The Mountain Culture we have created. I enjoy our vibrancy and beautiful vistas. Biking, skiing and dog walking. I enjoy our community, residents, and visitors. I don’t know of another place quite like Canmore.
Besides the obvious beautiful Mountain settings, our diverse community. Canmore hosts the most remarkable people. Olympic athletes, and other talented individuals. Our citizens intentionally move here and immediately adapt and appreciate the wonderful surroundings.
Our ability to grow responsibly. There is an appreciating for place, sustainability and our ecosystem.
To continue as a welcoming, diverse place. Continue to have success in the housing continuum and retain our community. To have a healthy and happy work life balance for Canmore.
One of my passions is mechanics. I’m a backyard mechanic and I love working on vehicles. Fortunately, my vehicles require lots of attention.
I love the outdoors, mountain biking, road biking, dog walks, hiking, golfing and skiing. Also, I am an avid Ice hockey player.
Do more, live more, Can more!
A previous mentor and boss during my employee review offered some advice I’ve carried with me and use regularly. During the review, he asked why I seemed disappointed by having all the boxes checked. He mentioned that was good for some, and it was my opportunity to let him and the company know what sets me apart. I took his lead and better informed my review and focused on what made me an invaluable member and contributor to the Team. A couple years later, I was a successful applicant and transferred to Canmore/Banff.
What I learned was to treat opportunities as a way to build up my earned value to an organization. Don’t be shy, take credit and tell others how your positive contributions make a difference.
" My name is David Evans, my family has lived in the Bow Valley for over 100 Years, both my Father and Grandfather worked at Canmore Mines.
I have had the distinct privilege of being able to work with Rob Seeley in a number of different capacities. I would like to pass along my personal experience’s working with Rob. I first encountered Rob at a formative meeting of concerned Canmore citizens that wanted to save an integral part of Canmore’s history, he felt that the Canmore Mines Lamphouse should be saved. I found out later that Rob was a Town Councilor, at this meeting he was acting as a concerned citizen. After seeking the support of the Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre I was nominated to the Board of Directors of the Museum, again I ran into Rob Seeley who is the Town of Canmore’s representative on the Non-profits Board. It was also through this Board connection that I serve on the Museums Fundraising Committee again with Rob.
Rob has proven to be integral in helping to save the Canmore Mines Lamphouse without his help and insight, we could not have reached the level of success that we currently enjoy.
Rob has always been willing to commit to taking on the extra duties that help insure the eventual success of the project, the telling point is that Rob completed his tasks. I volunteered to write this letter because I believe that the residents of Canmore have a proven Councillor in Rob Seeley, someone who has worked for his constituents and proven to be effective. Not only has Rob been fun to work with he has been productive. I feel confident in supporting Rob in his bid for re-election based on his past work, I look forward to working with him in the future." - David Evans
“Being in public office is THE hardest job (super demanding, always in the public eye, and bombarded by negativity), BUT it can be the most rewarding. Look at the incredible progress council made the last 3+ years! It is unbelievable progress and with such grace, vision, and emotional maturity. We just LOVE the direction and the hard climbs council has taken. We’d love to see it continue with force. We both really value Rob’s grounded wisdom and his openness and thoughtfulness. Go forward with confidence! We are 100% behind you!” - Kirsten Froese-Loewen
